Claremont, NC - Cargo Transporters, headquartered in Claremont NC, has announced that it has received a building permit and has broken ground to expand its Operations Center to accommodate support space needed for growth of the fleet. Cargo Transporters is a truckload carrier operating over 450 trucks in the continental United States and Canada. "As the largest, privately held truckload carrier in western North Carolina, we have been blessed with continued growth of our business. Our expansion is a reflection of that growth and our need for space to accommodate operational staff" says John Pope, CEO. "Claremont has been the home of our company since 1966 and we continue to work with the City of Claremont on expansion of their infrastructure to support our operation and our growth." The addition, designed by TGB Architecture of Hickory and being constructed by Matthews Construction of Conover, will add an additional 14,000 square feet of space to the existing 11,000 square foot building, at an investment of approximately $2.5 million. "This expansion will give us the ability to add staff to support the addition of approximately 500 trucks and potentially 600 more employees, including drivers and operations staff over the next 6 to 8 years. We are the largest privately held, truckload, asset based transportation and logistics provider in Western North Carolina and want to continue to grow to provide our customers with the premium service they have come to rely on," says Pope.
